• White card (or paper) 
  • Black card (or paper) 
  • Paint (any colour)
  • Paintbrush
  • Paint pot
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glue spreader
  • Pen
  • Envelope (optional) 
  • Ask your child to paint their hands and make two handprints on the white card
  • Leave to dry
  • On a long strip of white card, write ‘this much’ (Jacob did this himself) – leave a space at each end (I folded the card)
  • Cut out the handprints, stick on to black card and cut out again
  • Cut out some small bits of card and write ‘I love you . . . . ‘ on one and ‘Love from …… ‘ on the other
  • Stick them to the handprints
  • Fold the long piece of card (with ‘this much’ written on it) into a concertina
  • Attach each end to the handprints using glue
  • When dry, fold up so that one handprint is at the front, the other at the back
  • Place in an envelope so that it will spring open to read ‘I love you …. this much …. Love from …..’
  • We also wrote a message on the back of the handprints as it was for Father’s Day
