For this activity, Jacob worked with the numbers 1-10. However, this can easily be adapted to use with lower numbers (1-5) or extended to use higher (15-20 etc).

  • White Card
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • A beanbag
  • Place the number cards in order, up the stairs
  • Stand with your child at the bottom of the stairs
  • Call out a number
  • Your child has to throw the beanbag on to that number (gross motor skills)
  • Take one of the numbers away – which one is it? Can your child throw the beanbag to the stair with the missing number?
  • Mix up the order. Can your child count from 1-10, throwing the beanbag on to the correct stair?
